The Montessori Method promotes independence by giving a child the ability to make their own choices, providing gentle guidance, and allowing them to learn through play at their own pace. The Montessori way removes unneeded discipline and traditional lessons, providing a flexible and empowering learning environment.

Our curriculum depends on a high level of teacher observation.
Teachers hold a view of children as participant researchers and as co-constructors of knowledge. Community plays a big role in our curriculum as well, as the community is part of the environment that the children interact with and learn from.

It’s about following children’s interests and abilities, learning as a community, and respecting children’s ability to be co-creators with educators.

“Growth and psychic development are therefore guided by:  the absorbent mind, the nebulae, and the sensitive periods, with their respective mechanisms.  It is these that are hereditary and characteristic of the human species.  But the promise they hold can only be fulfilled through the experience of free activity conducted in the environment.”  (The Absorbent Mind, Chapter 8, p. 96)
